Bands in the middle of nowhere
Jun. 8th, 2006 10:59 amHey guys -
Can you help me think of awesome and/or quasi-well-known bands who come from the "flyover zone"?
I have
Oklahoma City = The Flaming Lips
Norman, OK = The Starlight Mints, Evangelicals
Stillwater, OK = All-American Rejects (who kind of suck, but might work)
Omaha, Neb. = the Faint, Bright Eyes (but not anymore)
Somewhere in Wisconsin (sorry I don't know your city) = IfIHadaHifi
Modesto, CA = Grandaddy
Dallas, TX = The PaperChase
Keep in mind really really arty/noisy/chaotic bands that aren't well-known won't work for this project. If I could come up with a band for every state outside of CA and NY, that would be awesome. Well, maybe I should say, outside of the major metros. Like, a band from Chicago is not any good, whereas a Dallas band is perfect because Dallas sucks.
I'm on the fence about Austin. There are a million bands from Austin. Spoon, Trail of Dead, Sound Team, ... who else?
