music music music

Triangle is a most excellent band. I saw two of the three members play last night. I told kept saying, "Tonight, they're more like Angle." It took Ross a while to get it. Oh, me and my math nerd jokes!

I can't get over how much I love the Arcade Fire. I love how their songs aren't about lust or youthful angst or getting drunk or playing rock or any of the normal rock topics. Not even like "alternative" rock topics like feeling alienated or not fitting in. They're about families and homes - leaving home and finding home - death and births. They have old people and babies and a real sense of roots. I mean, I can think of a lot of bands that have intelligent lyrics covering a wide spectrum of experiences and ideas. Somehow the Arcade Fire is the only band I know that's about family and about the whole life journey.

What about your boys the Flaming Lips? I finally saw The Fearless Freaks and that's pretty much what the message of the film was (besides provoking sour grapes out of Gibby Hayes).

And when I saw Arcade Fire at their Hollywood Bowl show, they did make a point of stopping to introduce their family members in the audience and making a very tearful thank you (along with "Dad I promise I'm going to pay you back that $2000 I owe you). It was a very sweet moment.

Well, to me, Flaming Lips songs are all about Oklahoma, which is a whole other matter. :)

it takes real men to make songs about nanotechnological assassination and allegories about GTMO inspiried sexual harassment.
